Zotmatch is an online community made exclusively for UCI students
by UCI students! You can use Zotmatch as a resource
to meet other students, buy/sell/trade with other
students, and discover all the sights and sounds
Orange County has to offer.
I. Purpose
Wouldn't it be neat to have a website that is dedicated solely on
meeting new people and making friends as well as dates? Well that
is exactly what the creators of Zotmatch were thinking of when
they decided to do something about this void on the internet.
To us, websites like facebook
and friendster fell short
of this expectation because most of its users just added people they
already knew beforehand and didn't really establish new relationships
with people they didn't already know. People would sign up to these
sites and shyly browse through profiles while keeping their distance
and making no new friends in the process.
So we thought long and hard on a website that would be built on the
premise that every single user would like to make new friends, but
had just not been offered the opportunity to initiate contact without
completely embarrassing themselves. Such a website had not existed,
until now...
II. How it Works
Introducing the match list idea, which
is the defining aspect of Zotmatch. While browsing through other
people's profiles, Zotmatch offers users the ability to add them
into their own match list, which is basically
a list of people they would like to get to know more, whether it be
on a friendship or dating level.
Once that person is added to the user's match
list, they are notified of this interest and may serve as the
ice breaker for further communication. The benefit behind the match
list is that it is a much lower risk than just sending a message
to a stranger over those alternative websites mentioned above that
may or may not be interested in meeting anybody new to begin with.
With Zotmatch, you know everybody on here is seeking to make new
friends, and the fact that it just takes a simple click to see if
that person is interested in getting to know you back makes the match
list idea work.
But now you must be thinking, what if I'm too shy to even tell someone
that I am interested in getting to know them? Well we thought of a
solution to that too, and it comes in the form of our secret
admirers system.
We like to think of our secret admirers
system as one of a kind, just like our match
list idea. The purpose of the secret
admirers system is two-fold. One, people too shy to let the
people they are interested in know about it will have a method of
communicating with them. And two, it's very neat to see if anybody
is secretly admiring you.
When somebody adds you to their secret admirers
list, you will immediately notice a secret admirers count appear in
your home login page as well as in your public profile. The person
who added you to their secret admirers list will also be given the
opportunity to send you messages that you can respond to. We believe
that even if you are too shy to add someone to your match list, you
still deserve a chance to talk to them and possibly develop some sort
of a relationship through anonymous messaging. Also, who wouldn't
want to exchange messages with their secret
admirer?
With these two major ideas in play, we hope that Zotmatch becomes
a great place for students at UCI to meet and make many new friends.
The usefulness of Zotmatch is in your hands, whether or not you
choose to use this website to your advantage is completely up to you.
Have you always wanted to approach someone you didn't know at UCI
and get to know them? Did you ever wish you had more friends to hang
out with during those boring schooldays and weekends without joining
some silly club, frat, or sorority? Want a free iPod? If you answered
yes to any of those questions, we can't help you. But you can sure
as hell help yourself with the first two by using Zotmatch
III. The Creators
We choose to remain anonymous because we're sexy like that. But you
can rest assured we are not losers who browse through yahoo personals
everyday for fun and have no friends. We have lots of friends o-o.
